Guide to Cardio Exercises - The Outdoor Workout

The human body is a complex system that is composed of organs, limbs, muscles, blood, hormones and nails among others. In order for the body to function, you need to eat and breathe. Oxygen helps to oxygenate the blood while food nourishes the muscles and body cells allowing the body to grow and develop.
The heart and the lungs are vital organs as they are at the centre of the above activities that is pumping of oxygenated and de-oxygenated blood to and from the body as well as breathing in and out of clean and used air.
Today, thanks to smart devices like smartphones, laptops and tablets, people are spending way too much time with them. It's not a surprise to find people sleeping with these devices beside them so that they don't miss that post, tweet or WhatsApp message from a friend or loved one.
Leading a sedentary lifestyle has a negative impact on the body. To improve one's cardiovascular health, you need to engage in cardio exercises.
Swimming
For many people, a swimming pool is just a place where you can throw a party and invite a few friends. For others, it's a place to sleep on the deck chair and let the skin absorb the rays of the sun as you sip your favourite drink.
Swimming is a great workout as it engages different limbs and muscles when moving through the water. For example, when you breast stroke, you need to make movements with your arms, neck and legs. This exercise helps to make the heart to pump blood faster while the lungs take in clean air and expel used air.
Next time you have an opportunity of standing by a pool; don't look at it as a massive pond but as a gateway to better health.
Walking
The best thing about walking is that you can turn it into a fun activity. You don't have to walk in the park or around the neighbourhood when you need to exercise. The hills and woods in the countryside are perfect places to hike. When you walk, different joints like the knees, the elbows and shoulders get to move which improves lubrication.
For the muscles around the legs, thighs, arms and back, they will not only receive nourishment from oxygenated blood but they will receive the much needed exercise too. You will be able to exercise your legs and the whole body as well as experience nature at its best.
Running
When you run, you engage your heart and your lungs just like swimming and cycling do. The lungs will take in oxygen and dispel used air quickly. This is done to supply the heart with oxygenated blood as the body cells are burning energy at a high rate. Running is a cardio exercise for the outdoors and the best thing about it is that you can push your body to highest limits. For instance, you can start jogging one mile in a day and within no time; you will have the ability of participating in a marathon.
Cycling
When you cycle, you help to jump start metabolism allowing your body to burn calories which in turn powers the cells in the muscles. Cycling allows you to engage your legs, your back, your elbows, your arms and your wrists. Your heart and lungs will benefits from the oxygen as well as the energy produced which helps to power the organs.
Final Thoughts
What you need to remember is that even though cardio exercises help to improve your heart and lungs, you need to take a rest. You can work out from Monday to Friday but set Saturday and Sunday for resting.

Exercises and Workouts - Running Is Not Always Ideal For Fat Loss

It is true; exercise is good for you. Physical activity will lower your blood sugar and is beneficial to your heart. But what do you think is the best way to lose body fat? Is it to go for a long run? Many people hold this notion. Moreover, it is quite understandable considering many realize to lose weight; you have to burn more calories. What better way to burn calories than to go for a run?
However, there are some factors you may be overlooking that could be preventing you from seeing the results you are hoping for. Let us look at what these are so you can see why it may be time for you to rethink the benefits of a long run...
1. Running and Muscle Mass Loss. The first point to note is this: running is not especially great at preserving lean muscle mass tissue. Because there is no resistance at play, this is going to mean your body sees no reason to maintain lean muscle and therefore, you are going to burn a combination of fat and muscle.
While if your primary goal is to become lighter and thinner, this may seem like a good thing. However, think again. The problem here is when you lose lean muscle mass tissue, your resting metabolic rate will slow down and lead to difficulties sustaining any fat loss in the future.
The slower your metabolic rate is, the less food you can eat on a daily basis and maintain or lose weight. If you like to eat, this is an unworkable situation.
2. Running and the Metabolic Rate. Another problem with running is it does not do much to boost your resting metabolic rate. With high-intensity interval training or weight lifting, for instance, your metabolism will be higher for hours after the completion of your workout. You will find fat continues to burn long after your workout is finished.
With running, however, when you stop running, you stop burning calories. Then you are back to square one. You will only continue to lose fat if you keep up the running.
3. Running And Food Consumption. Last but not least, running tends to make people hungry. It is not abnormal to find people feasting on bagels, pasta, or other carb-dense foods after a run because they cannot control themselves and feel like they have "earned" it. If you do that you are going to be facing weight gain, not weight loss.
You do not want to devote a lot of your time to running and then wipe out all the benefits it gave you. Keep these tips in mind and rethink the long run. There are far better ways to burn fat.
Although managing Type 2 diabetes can be very challenging, it is not a condition you must just live with. Make simple changes to your daily routine - include exercise to help lower both your blood sugar levels and your weight.

Jogging Tips for 45-Year-Olds : Running Tips

No Gym, No Problem - Affordable Home Gym Ideas

If you have ever lived in an apartment and you're anything like me, then it is almost torturous to have the same layout for the entire time. Unfortunately you are locked into a lease and you have to make the best of it. Even if you loved your place when you moved in you could get bored of the way your things are set up. That being said, I wish my girlfriend and I had a second bedroom so we could put all our workout stuff in. Yes we could just go down to the fitness center in our apartment complex but honestly I feel a little odd due to its close proximity to the leasing center. Going to a gym is one thing but I like to work out when I can upstairs.
A few things that I have found to be very useful in working out in my apartment are resistance bands, a pull up bar and a punching bag of any weight. The resistance bands offer incredible versatility because you can use them as nearly any piece of gym equipment. For instance you stand on them and curl or wrap your back in them and do push ups with added resistance. You can use them in almost any way and get a good work out going.
The pull-up bar is used of course for pull ups but you can take the punching bag, hang it from your pull up bar and do some light kicks and punches. I used to have a punching bag stand with a 100 pound bag and I loved punching it and kicking it. It was one of the best workouts I have ever done and I was very disappointed when I got rid of the bag and stand. The punching bag can be used as other things too. You can bench it or squat with it. Almost anything you do with weights or without weights can be done with this punching bag. It is a little cumbersome even if it is a light weight bag. You can train your auxiliary muscles this way too. Due to the awkward nature of working with the bag your body needs to stay straight and stable with.
These options have really made it easier to work out at home and It is a very affordable option, the bag was just about $35, you can get a pull up bar for $10-15 and the resistance bands cost me about $18 on amazon. So it is a very viable option if you don't want to spend the money on a pricey gym membership or if you just don't like working out in public settings.
