Great Benefits of Kettlebell Training

A Kettlebell is a piece of exercise equipment that strongly resembles a cannonball with a handle attached to it. These items are generally made from cast iron or cast steel. They were developed back in the 1700s in Russia. They have been used by athletes to increase their strength and they were even used by the Soviet army in their physical training for their troops.
Some Kettlebells are actually bags filled with sand instead of the cast iron cannonballs, but even the bags are uniquely shaped so they provide an unstable force. These items are often used in swinging motions and they provide excellent cardiovascular responses and they provide good strength training without the person having to repeat one exercise for several repetitions over a long period of time.
• Provides as much, if not more, cardio exercise as a treadmill does
• Can help you create functional strength in muscles without your having to do monotonous isolated repetitions
• Creates flexibility without requiring long, tedious poses
• It is a combination of strength training and cardio training
• You do not need a lot of expensive equipment to do the exercises
• Anyone, of any shape, size, or age can do some type of Kettlebell exercises
• The exercises are not boring because there is such a variety of things you can do
• This is the perfect exercise for people who have a limited amount of time to devote to their daily exercise regimen
• Kettlebell exercises helps to create a denser muscle mass and muscle burns more calories so it eliminates fat stores in the body at a higher rate than if you were simply engaging in cardio exercises. Cardio exercises get the blood flowing and improves circulation but when you really want to burn the fat away you have to include strength training
• Is effective at working every muscle in your body
• Kettlebells help to strengthen ligaments and tendons. The increased strength of ligaments and tendons means your joints will be stronger and less likely to be injured
• Kettlebell exercises do not cause women to bulk up in muscle mass like lifting traditional barbells will.
• It is very easy to learn how to use the Kettlebell exercises
• Kettlebell exercises increase your coordination
So exercising Kettlebells can not only be very much helpful for the athletes and they can increase their strength with the help of Kettlebells but also it can help other people too if they exercise it.
Using a Kettlebell will help you to get into shape faster with less stress on your joints. For help with Kettlebell workouts contact the experts at Zero Gravity Fitness.

Why Do We Lose Muscle Mass As We Age?

On average, by the time we reach the age 60 we lose about 30 percent of our muscle mass. These are the things most people take for granted because of age. The first thought is right, no one can stop ageing, however, we can change most of the age - related issues that come along with it. Muscle loss is no different to other things that come along with ageing.
Reasons for Losing Muscles!
There are several reasons for any health issues that come along with age and muscle loss isn't the only one. Yes, our body slows down with age, for some sooner than others. Retirement means less activity, longer nights and shorter days. Some of our habits change and so does our lifestyle. That means there are things we don't have to do any longer, at least not every day. These are things our body is reacting to and brings along changes and issues. In retirement, for most people one of the most enjoyments of life is doing less or as little as possible and the body will react to this. This is one way of losing muscle and putting on weight, there are many others such as diet, nutrition, exercise, activities etc.
The diet is the first thing to question, is it lacking some of the things the body needs to build muscle? Minerals, which is most common our body can miss minerals without noticing anything for some time. Vitamins and protein, we know protein builds muscle. But, wait a minute, don't just rush of to the store for a protein shake, or some spirulina supplement which is worthless as a protein source.
Not only the Diet
Where does protein come from? It's not only the diet or exercise, although an important part of it. At an older age the body produces less or is harder for the body to make protein. Not having enough protein, we lose muscle mass that could mean the hair gets brittle, the immune system becomes sluggish, the bones become weaker and brittle subject to fracture and breakage, as well sagging of the skin. That's not all, lack of protein can bring on anxiety, depression, the sex drive suffers, these are just the major things that can happen. Yes, the diet like in many health issues has a lot to do with it. We assume that all the protein comes from the diet and what we eat, but that is not the only source of protein.
Proteins made by the body with the help of the right diet, so the body can make amino acids where the proteins come from. The other problem with age comes absorption or lack of it. It is not always the case that proteins made by the body from the diet used to build muscles. Because lack of absorption, protein can turn into excess glucose and not used only for muscles. The same can apply to any supplement pills you take; the absorption may only be a small percentage, and most is of no benefit. Unless a mixture of things you take together is right the body misses out.
For instance, the highest source of dietary protein is in whole eggs, do not remove the yolk like some trying to tell you, make sure to use whole - egg. Eggs have an AAU (Amino Acid Utilization) of 47 percent. As well as fish, meat, poultry, they all have an AAU content of about 32 percent. For the body to work at its best so it can produce enough protein to build muscles, the digestive enzymes must also function properly. If the digestive system works correctly the amino acids will go directly into the bloodstream. This than becomes the building block for hormones, enzymes, connecting tissues, bone and muscles. That's why the digestive function is so important for absorption, as well the right combination of the things we take. Otherwise all the things you have taken including the right food, instead making protein any extra amino acids get turned into sugar, which is not the outcome you want.
Supplementation a must.
With age also comes rejection of absorption which is also a problem for the digestive system. This happens when certain minerals and vitamins are not available from a normal diet. A multi natural supplement should have all the ingredients to keep a normal immune system function, protect the body from oxidative damage, help the body to make folic acid that assists in normal blood formation and cell division.
A supplement designed to contain lipid - soluble elements, maximizing bioavailability of these nutrients for absorption. It should have a proprietary combination of vitamin E, B and omega - 3s (EPA and DHA) derived only from natural source, not synthetics. Nitric oxide: The molecule of life, nitro oxide is a gas with chemical formula N - O: One molecule of nitrogen bonds to one molecule of oxygen. Nitro oxide is something new, not many know about this special discovery from the mid-nineties. It is a natural medicine for your heart, blood vessels and in general for cardiovascular health and more.
These are the main ingredients to take: Morning; A delicious blend of super fruit's juice (30 ml pouch.) Midday; Nitric Oxide in drops. Evening; Omega - 3 Capsules, to help build muscles. This will also improve absorption, as well the best possible benefits you can get from the right supplement. No others created better than this one.

The Surprising Best Ways To Lose Weight After 50

Are you trying to lose a few pounds? Would you love an energy boost? Have you committed more than once to get back in shape only to find it doesn't matter what you do? It's like reading as it gets dark. You finally decide to interrupt your book and flip the switch. When you do however, you find the light switch has no effect and you don't know how to turn it on.
Several things are working against you. Hormones during a woman's late 40s to 60 take her for yet another ride. For some it's a nice cruise, but for others this ride is a roller coaster ride you wish you'd been too short to take. Then there's time, stress, and a good chance that there's been some injury that changes what you can do. Finally, here's some insight on how and why to turn things around.
1. There actually is a best time of day to exercise. The answer to that question has always been the best time is the time you'll do it. Expert opinions lean toward morning since there are fewer interruptions at 5:00 am than later in the day.
A recent study showed that exercise first thing in the morning, in a fasted state, helped burn more fat throughout the day compared to no exercise or the same exercise after breakfast.
In the particular study, subjects followed a diet higher in calories and fat than their usual diet. The study suggests that if you over-indulge you can prevent weight gain by getting up the following morning and exercising with adequate intensity before you've had breakfast.
2. Cortisol is not your keeper. Known as the stress hormone for good reason, cortisol is a necessary hormone in the body. Under stress, particularly prolonged stress, however, higher levels of it encourage fat storage. Easily stored as bat wings and muffin top, it's harder to burn off. Harder to store as deep belly fat you can beat like a drum, it is at least easier to burn off with exercise.
Reducing the amount of cortisol you have in response to stress gets at the real problem. If you focus on losing fat while your body is still on high-speed fat storage you can't win. Once experts suggested reducing exposure to stress. Another suggestion was find your way to yoga or get a hobby. Breath in and breath out. Studies suggest now the ultimate stress strategy is to embrace your stress.
People who think of stress as a positive challenge and expect there will be stress fare better than those of us who believe stress is bad. When you buy into the stress is bad for your health idea, it is. You can change the biology in your body based on your thoughts. Choose a positive attitude toward stress and you will live longer healthier based on mortality rates. Believe stress is bad for health and you shorten your life.
3. Hacking has become a new sport. A hack is a short cut. People are trying to hack sleep, hack work, hack exercise. While it works in some areas as a working smarter not harder or more strategy it doesn't work at all in others. Sleep is one of those areas. If you've been an infomercial fan whose ordered one of those fat loss programs for a quick fix in the past, you'll love this.
Sleep is one of the most passive things you can do to get some weight loss control. When you're sleep deprived your cortisol levels go up. Not only that but two other hormones work against you as well. Ghrelin tells you that you're hungry after a short night. Leptin never tells you you're full. Round out the trio with cortisol and you are likely to eat foods you don't need, never feel you get enough, and then have the super-storage power thanks to cortisol.
Find your optimal sleep length. Do everything you can to protect it. Seek support if you've had sleep problems for years. It's time you got a good night's sleep and you may find that it changes your weight loss efforts.
4. Exercise and diet count but less than you think. We need to eat right. The hard thing here is fine tuning your "right." While we seek diet and exercise changes first to take control, they are really only a part of the picture. Without optimal alignment of your hormones a good diet and exercise won't work and might each contribute to your lack of success.
You want to as Pamela Peeke wrote in her book, Fitness After Forty, have a routine and a stress routine. We often don't adjust. That pushes hormones further out-of-order. If you tend to have a "if I work harder I get better results" ethic you may have to rewind and relax your grip in order for things to work.
What got you here won't get you there. That's a line borrowed from author and coach Marshall Goldsmith. You can't look inside to check whether your hormones are in balance without testing. Yet, if you know, intuitively you know something isn't right here, then focus on these steps first. Then test don't guess to see what you're working against. Even tests sometimes won't come back positive some doctors will admit. You know you. Use that information and find support in creating a priority list of where to begin.

Food For Healthy Eyes: Why You Need Lutein and Zeaxanthin

If you are looking to prevent eye conditions like macular degeneration and cataracts, a good way to start is to consume the right diet. You need specific nutrients and foods for healthy eyes, but of special note are lutein and zeaxanthin. What are they and how do they keep your eyes healthy?
Lutein and zaexanthin are carotenoids, pigments that give plants red, orange, and yellow colors. Among their functions is protecting plants from high-energy light rays called blue light. These substances are also highly concentrated in the macula of the eye, giving it a yellowish color. In fact, the macula contains a third form of carotenoid, as stated in recent research. This pigment, called meso-zeaxanthin, is produced in the retina using ingested lutein and is not found in any food source.
The Benefits Of Lutein And Zeaxanthin
The primary benefit of lutein, zeaxanthin, and meso-zeaxanthin has to do with how they protect the eyes from blue light. They block blue light from reaching the retina which prevents light-induced oxidation that leads to macular degeneration (AMD). They also work with other antioxidants like vitamins C and E and beta-carotene to protect the body from free radicals that damage the cells and cause many diseases.
The benefits of these three carotenoids are well-documented in a number of studies published in reputable journals. The American Journal of Epidemiology, Ophthalmology and Archives of Ophthalmology released research associating high levels of lutein and zeaxanthin with low incidences of macular degeneration. Two studies in Investigative Ophthalmology and Visual Science found roughly similar results in that increased levels of macular pigments meant lower risks of developing AMD.
Furthermore, the Age-Related Eye Disease Study (AREDS and AREDS2) formulated a daily antioxidant containing vitamins C and E, zinc, and copper, as well as lutein and zeaxanthin. It was found that this combination reduced the risk of AMD progression by 10 to 25 percent. The said research did not clarify if lutein and zeaxanthin also reduced the risk of cataracts.
Foods Containing Lutein And Zeaxanthin
These two nutrients are abundant in green and yellow vegetables, especially leafy ones. Cooked spinach and cooked kale are considered top sources. They are also found in non-vegetarian sources, particularly egg yolks. However, it would be best to stick to vegetarian items if you have high cholesterol levels.
Conclusion
Just like the rest of the body, the eyes need proper nutrition to stay healthy and free from diseases. Consuming food items rich in lutein and zeaxanthin is a good way to maintain excellent vision.

10 Anti Ageing Benefits of Water

We all know that water is an extremely important nutrient for survival. But besides keeping us alive or just quenching our thirst, it can do a number of things in our bodies to keep us healthy and to help fight the aging process.
Many experts say the average person should drink about 64 ounces of water per day. Other experts say you should drink 1/2 ounce for every 1 pound of body weight to account for all the water loss through the consumption of coffee, alcohol etc. Regardless of the number you use, the sad truth is most of us do not consume nearly enough water throughout the day to really reap the tremendous benefits that clean, fresh water can give us.
Here are ten anti-ageing benefits of water
1) Feeds and cleans the cells
Water makes up more than 60 percent of our body weight, and without enough water, other nutrients in the form of food or supplement will have a hard time being assimilated quickly and efficiently. Water moves in and out of the cells on a constant basis. This process helps dissolve nutrients and carries them where they need to go and it carries waste out of the body. Water also feeds your cells to you give you the energy you need. Before grabbing that next cup of coffee or expensive "energy drink" try downing a big glass of water instead.
2) Improves the digestive process
Water works much like oil does in a machine; it keeps us running smooth. Without it, our digestive processes tend to slow down and get sluggish. This can cause a digestive "backup" or in other words, constipation.
3) Maintains an even body temperature.
Whether it is extreme heat or extreme cold, water is a crucial element to helping your body temperature stay out of the danger zone. In extreme heat, our bodies sweat, causing a loss of a lot of water. Not only will water help keep your body temperature from over-heating, causing heat stroke, it will also help prevent serious dehydration. In cold weather, hypothermia is just as serious as heat stroke. Nurses in an Alaskan Hospital have said that dehydration is the number one cause of frostbite.
4) Helps the body heal after sickness, injury or surgery
The body will tend to retain water to help itself heal. By drinking lots of extra water, this process will be amplified. Water will also help flush viruses and infections out of the body.
5) Lubricates and cushions the joints
Water molecules don't like to be crowded too close together. Because of this, water molecules will spread out, forming a cushion that helps lubricate the joints. Sufferers of diseases like arthritis and gout can really feel the benefit of an abundance of water in their diet. Besides cushioning the joints, water also acts
Water molecules don't like to be crowded too close together. Because of this, water molecules will spread out, forming a cushion that helps lubricate the joints. Sufferers of diseases like arthritis and gout can really feel the benefit of an abundance of water in their diet. Besides cushioning the joints, water also acts as a shock absorber inside the eyes and within the spinal cord.
6) Makes Your Skin Soft And Smooth
Water is very important for skin to be soft and smooth. Without enough water, the skin will more easily wrinkle and dry out. Water makes the skin more elastic. However, too much of a good thing can be a bit harmful as well. Soaking in a hot bath or hot tub for too long will strip the natural oils out of the skin. These oils are what helps keep the moisture in. Spraying your face with a little water is great for a little pick me up. Using a humidifier in dryer climates is very beneficial for the skin as well.
7) Helps Halt Kidney and Gallstone Formation
Water helps flush waste and impurities from the body. Enough water circulating through the body should be enough to help combat the formation of kidney and gall stones. Gallstones are created when the bile secreted by the liver does not contain enough water. Drinking plenty of water will keep these two organs working with ease.
8) Weight Loss
Although there is a difference of opinion by some experts regarding drinking water before meals, the general consensus is that drinking some water before a meal will cause you to feel more full, thereby helping you eat less at each meal. Drinking water will also give you more energy to do a little extra exercise too.
9) Germs be gone
Water isn't just for the inside of the body. The best way to rid the germs lurking on your hands is a good soap and water washing. Fewer germs mean less sickness and disease.
10) Makes you smarter
The brain is one of the most vulnerable parts of the body that is highly affected when we are not consuming enough water. Water will help you be able to focus, concentrate, and complete tasks more efficiently.
Have you ever stopped to think about how much water you drink in a day? Is it enough to accomplish the important tasks your body has that requires adequate water to effectively hit the mark? Drinking water only when your feel thirsty is not a good way to judge whether or not you are drinking enough water.
The fact of the matter is, by the time your brain signals your body to trigger a thirst response, you have already gone into slight dehydration. By remembering to drink at least 64 ounces of clean, fresh water every day, you will be in a great place to help fight the many signs of agehttps://ezinearticles.com/?10-Anti-Aging-Benefits-of-Water&id=9646995ing, increase your energy level and help stave off certain illnesses as well.

Why You Should Eat These Foods

About 8 years ago my cousin sent me a paper about healthy foods we have and ways to use them to stay healthy. Because I am passionate about promoting good health, I collect ideas about healthy living whenever I find them. There is a lot of good information everywhere and people are so willing to share what they know.
We are here on this beautiful earth with abundance. By study and seeking wisdom we learn to use what we have. Sharing is part of the gifts we enjoy.
In the Bible we read: GOD first separated the salt water from the fresh, made dry land, planted a garden, made animals and fish... all before making a human. HE made and provided what we would need before we were born. These are best, and more powerful when eaten raw. GOD left us a great clue as to what foods help what part of our body!
Fight Disease, Eat Healthy Foods
A sliced Carrot looks like the human eye. The pupil, iris and radiating lines look just like the human eye... and YES, science now shows carrots greatly enhance blood flow to and function of the eyes.
A Tomato has four chambers and is red. The heart has four chambers and is red. All of the research shows tomatoes are loaded with lycopine and are indeed pure heart and blood food.
Grapes hang in a cluster that has the shape of the heart. Each grape looks like a blood cell and all of the research today shows grapes are also profound heart and blood vitalizing food. Grapes resemble the alveoli of the lungs. The lungs are made of branches of ever-smaller airways that end with tiny branches of tissue called alveoli. Alveoli allow oxygen to pass from the lungs to the blood stream. Research has shown that a diet high in fresh grapes can reduce the risk of lung cancer and emphysema.
A Walnut looks like a little brain, a left and right hemisphere, upper cerebrums and lower cerebellums. Even the wrinkles or folds on the nut look just like the neo-cortex. Researchers say walnuts help develop more than three (3) dozen neuron-transmitters for brain function. Because walnuts are loaded with omega-3s, we can consider them the ultimate"brain food". The human brain is about 60% "structural fat". So it needs high-quality fats like omega-3s to function properly and keep the brain fluid and flexible.
Kidney Beans actually heal and help maintain kidney function. Yes, they look exactly like the human kidneys. Kidney beans, like most other beans are a very good source of cholesterol-lowering fiber. In addition to lowering cholesterol, kidney beans' high fiber content prevents blood sugar levels from rising too rapidly after a meal. Thus these beans are an especially good choice for individuals with diabetes, insulin resistance or hypoglycemia. Kidney beans are an excellent source of the trace mineral, molybdenum. This is an integral component of the enzyme sulfite oxidase, detoxifies sulfites. Sulfites are a type of preservative commonly added to prepared foods. Side effects of sulfites include rapid heartbeat, headache or disorientation. Reaction to sulfites, may be caused by molybdenum stores too insufficient to detoxify them.
Parsley is an excellent source of vitamin K, vitamin C, as well as a good source of vitamin A, folic acid, and iron. Because parsley is a low calorie nutrient-dense herb, it is useful for many things. It helps boost metabolism, remove excess water from the body, and cleanse the kidneys and livers. This, in turn, keeps the body's functioning at its optimal level and helps in weight loss.
Celery, Bok-Choy, Rhubarb and many more look just like bones. These foods specifically target bone strength. Bones are 23 % sodium and these foods are 23% sodium. If you do not have enough sodium in your diet, the body pulls it from the bones, thus making them weak. These foods replenish the skeletal needs of the body.
Avocados, Eggplant and Pears are healthy foods that target the health and function of the womb and cervix of the female - they look just like these organs. Today's research shows that when a woman eats one avocado a week, it balances hormones, sheds unwanted birth weight, and prevents cervical cancers. The Aztecs called this the fertility fruit because of the high amounts of Vitamin E in it. And how profound is this? It takes exactly nine (9) months to grow an avocado from blossom to ripened fruit. There are over 14,000 photolytic chemical constituents of nutrition in each one of these foods (modern science has only studied and named about 141 of them).
Figs are full of seeds and hang in twos when they grow. Because figs increase the mobility of male sperm and increase the numbers of Sperm as well they help overcome male sterility. Note: bananas and cucumbers are also good for the male genitals. Like Kidney beans, figs are a good source of fiber and manganese, as well as magnesium, calcium, copper and potassium and vitamins K and B6. They are helpful in lowering blood pressure. Besides keeping much longer, the nutritional value of figs increases when they're dried. A half-cup of fresh figs provides as much calcium as one-half cup of milk. But a single dried fig contains almost as much calcium as an egg. Because figs contain powerful antioxidants they neutralize free radicals in your body and fight disease. This they do whether fresh or dried. These healthy foods grow on trees that seem to grow wild in some warmer climates. I almost envy the people in those climates.
Sweet Potatoes look like the pancreas. Because they are low on the glycemic index they actually balance the blood sugar of diabetics. Sweet potatoes are a great source of B6 vitamins, which are amazing at breaking down homocysteine. Because this substance contributes to the hardening of blood vessels and arteries causing heart attacks we need low homocysteine levels. Sweet potatoes' potassium content helps your heart, as it lowers blood pressure by maintaining fluid balance. Potassium is also an important electrolyte that helps regulate your heartbeat. Hi amounts of manganese is also in sweet potatoes like kidney beans and figs.
Proven Health Benefits of Cinnamon include high antioxidants, anti-inflammatory and protects heart health. Because cinnamon normalizes blood sugar it fights diabetes. Other helps are cognitive brain function, and cancer prevention. We use cinnamon to fight infections and viruses. Did you know sweeter breath and mouth health are great uses for cinnamon? Also candida prevention and cure, healthy skin, and allergy help are uses for cinnamon. Use Cinnamon to Sweeten Recipes without Added Sugar. It is also a natural food preservative to help with other healthy foods.
Because olives are very high in vitamin E they assist the health and function of the ovaries. Also these healthy foods are high in other powerful antioxidants. Studies show that they are good for the heart, and may protect against osteoporosis and cancer. The healthy fats in olives are extracted to produce extra virgin olive oil, one of the key components of the incredibly healthy Mediterranean diet.
Pomegranates are good for the ovaries also. Packed with antioxidants and loaded with vitamin C and potassium, pomegranates are a super food. They can help with risk of heart disease, risk of cancer, diarrhea, cholesterol, weight and cell damage. Pomegranates are one of the few fruits where the juice is just as beneficial as the fruit or seeds. The peel, which you can't eat, contains the most antioxidants, and they are released in abundance when the fruit is squeezed for juicing. They can be juiced with a citrus juicer. I am sure there are healthy foods where you live.
Oranges, Grapefruits, and other Citrus fruits look just like the mammary glands of the female, and actually assist the health of the breasts and the movement of lymph in and out of the breasts. These healthy foods are popular and it should be easy to include them in our diet. However, they do not grow where it is cold so we are dependent on the system to bring them to us.
Onions look like the body's cells. Today's research shows onions help clear waste materials from all of the body cells. They even produce tears which wash the epithelial layers of the eyes. A working companion, Garlic, also helps eliminate waste materials and dangerous free radicals from the body.
Pineapple is also good for the cells and the skin of the pineapple looks like cells look under a microscope. It is loaded with Vitamin C and Manganese. It also improves digestion because it is a great source of bromelain. Bromelain is an enzyme that will help with digestion if eaten with food. If you eat it on an empty stomach it helps with pain and inflammation. Either way it is a win win situation.
Wood Ear Mushroom or Black Fungus. This is a very important food for us that should be incorporated into everyone's diet. I have never heard of this healthy food. After learning the benefits of it I will be wanting to find some. It is beneficial for blood, as it can nourish, activate, and clean the blood all at once. Wood ear counteracts high cholesterol, increases body fluids, and adds moisture to the lung. It is effective in blood coagulation and decreasing blood cholesterol levels.Other amazing benefits include high protein, low-calorie vegetable, high fiber, rich in iron vitamin B-2.
The juice of a potato is good for lung and bronchial problems. Because we usually eat them fried or baked we think of them as unhealthy. Watch this video to learn amazing health benefits of Potato Juice. According to many people the best way to get the benefits of potato is to drink the juice. Healthy foods include Potatoes which are high in vitamin C and helped early sailors fight scurvy. Potatoes are also a rich source of Vitamin B, folate and minerals such as potassium, magnesium and iron. Contrary to popular thought, they are low on the glycemic index and can help you lose weight. How To Make Fitness A Habit

There are many individuals for whom fitness comes straightforward. They are energetic individuals and they have an obsession with daily exercising. The individuals of this type are exceptional, despite the fact that, and most of them necessitate to work hard to encourage themselves to exercise on the standard basis. No matter how difficult it might be to exercise, fitness requires being a significant part of your daily schedule. Furthermore, it is imperative not to make explanations. Exercise is one of the most excellent things you can do to get better your health. It is an established part of disease prevention and it facilitates you feel better and full of energy. That is why, if you do not have the benefit of exercising, you need to discover other ways to make fitness fun.
One of the most excellent ways to make fitness a habit is to select activities that are enjoyable. Finding something that offers a lot of enjoyment can be a challenge, but just the once you have found something for which you are fanatical, it is easy to get attached to it. You do not necessitate sticking with the similar activity all the time. There is nothing incorrect with making swimming, dancing, walking, and other activities all part of your fitness schedule. Keeping things innovative is a great way to make fitness enjoyable.
If you work sincerely to get out there and exercise, you should reward your sincere and hard efforts. Occasionally looking and feeling great is reward enough, however, you deserve to credit your assurance to health and fitness. It is an achievement if you stick with an exercise arrangement, so make sure you admit your sincere work once in a while. Consider helping yourself to something fitness related plan on your commitment to fitness. Enrolling in a new-fangled exercise class or buying some innovative fitness equipment is a great way to remain encouraged.
Sometimes the finest way to stay encouraged and stick with a fitness plan is to share your enthusiasm with others. Find a buddy who also desires to add fitness to their lifestyle and find things you can carry out mutually. If you are both high-spirited individuals, exercise it to keep your feeling determined. Those who are not high-spirited can still encourage one another by setting shared ambitions and making arrangements to work out jointly.
A big blunder most people make when improving fitness is to execute the whole lot at once. This is a blunder for the reason that you burn out on the novel things you are doing. Some people make a decision to revamp their lives and start on eating differently, working out, and trying to develop into an all-around healthier person all straight away. You identify yourself best; however, make sure you are not taking on too much all immediately. Small changes over time frequently last longer than comprehensive changes in a short period of time.
To end with, keep focusing on making things pleasurable. If you get too serious you might get disheartened. Bounce back into what you were doing and get back on the right pathway. If you are not having enjoyment with a particular activity, move onto something original.

Why Seniors Need To Eat Right And Healthy As They Age

True, eating a well-balanced diet is important at any age, but when you enter into the golden era of your life, you need to give more attention and importance to what you eat. Yes, you have heard this advice before; older adults need to pay special emphasis on their diet. But, do you know why this is so important?
What Happens As You Age?
As you grow older, your appetite, nutritional requirements, and food habits change drastically. Things you didn't worry about earlier now become a major cause of concern. This is because of the following factors:
• Medical Conditions Develop: Health problems are common when you age. High blood pressure, high cholesterol and diabetes are the common problems that affect aging adults. As a result, you become sensitive to certain foods and hence, need to make changes in your diet.
• Poor Immune System: As you age, your immune system weakens. The chances of developing food poisoning or food-related diseases increase. By taking care to eat healthy, immune-boosting food, you can keep common ailments at bay.
• Need for Fewer Calories: To maintain healthy weight, you require fewer calories. Less energy, reduced physical activity, muscle/joint issues and loss of muscle mass cause your metabolism to slow down. This minimizes your calorie needs.
• Other Factors: You may begin taking medications that affect your appetite; oral health problems can prevent you from eating; or losing a close family member or spouse can take a toll on your regular eating habits.
Maintaining A Healthy Diet
Here are a few ways you can keep your diet in check, regardless of the above factors:
• Consume adequate amounts of fiber, such as whole grains, fruits and vegetables. It helps maintain a healthy digestive system.
• You can ask your doctor for mineral or vitamin supplements such as Vitamin D, calcium and magnesium, if you find consuming nutrient-rich foods a hassle.
• Mingle and stay social. Chatting with friends and family can making eating a fun activity.
• Eat nutrient-rich foods as it helps your body get carbohydrates, proteins, vitamins, minerals and essential fats.
• Opt for healthier frozen, canned and processed foods such as instant oatmeal, bagged salad and frozen unsweetened fruit.
• Drink adequate amounts of water as you will not have to worry about dehydration. Set a goal to drink at least eight glasses of water a day.
The food choices you make play a major role in keeping you healthy and active as you age. Irrespective of age, taking the time to consume a well-balanced diet will pave the way for a healthier you.

Health and Wellness Tips With A Long Fitness Life

Your health is your wealth. A healthy man is a wealthy man, literally. You may think of a tycoon who owns so much material wealth but their health troubles them. What is the point of all the material wealth if you cannot enjoy it? The money spent on doctors could have been channelled in other better avenues. Similarly, ever thought of how quick an employee gets replaced at work? You probably fell ill or a colleague passed on. The job vacancy goes up no sooner than the bad news leaves your mind.
Therefore, it is important that you take care of your health. It is with this in mind, we have noted down these health tips. There are simply recommendations. We are free to do more or less, as per what we desire.
1. Drink Water
This may sound cliché but it is very important. Top of the list in good health tips to practise is staying hydrated. The human body functions mainly on water. Take a person who is fasting, they can do away with food but they are allowed to take water. Water keeps you alert and keeps your body functional. At times, people have headaches simply because of dehydration. However, most people are quick to take paracetamol tablets. It is recommended that you take between 6 - 8 glasses of water every day. Stay hydrated and you definitely will remain rejuvenated.
2. Work out
Among daily health tips that we should not compromise is working out. Now, you don't need to have a gym membership. Life is not as complicated. We all want to have the gym membership but what if you don't? You can simply buy a skipping rope and put in the cardio at home. Get a comfortable pair of trainers and have a morning or evening run. If that's too much, walk. If you own a pet, this can be ideal timing for you to bond.
3. Meditate
The career woman today has so much going on in her daily activities. She ought to be a wife at home, mother and deliver at work. It is very easy to lose yourself when so much is expected of you. Among the health tips for women would be embracing meditation. Most people say they don't have time for such but if it is important, you find time for it. Take time alone and just get lost in your positive thoughts. Visualize or even take part in yoga. You take control of your emotional health particularly which is very important.
4. Sleep well
Sleep is a very debatable subject. Some people prescribe 8 hours of sleep while others prescribe 6 hours. In the same line of thought, you hear of very successful people who sleep for 4 hours and are very functional. Therefore, my recommendation is sleep well. It is not the quantity but quality of sleep that counts. If you sleep for 10 hours and it's a noisy place, you won't rest well. You can however sleep for 2 hours in a very serene environment and get up very energetic. It is the quality that counts, not the quantity.
A power nap in the afternoon is said to keep one youthful. I don't know how true it is but there could be truth to it. What I know is that when you feel sluggish in the afternoon, a power nap goes a long way. There is no point of dragging through your tasks yet you can just sleep for ten minutes and be rejuvenated. However, do not be a serial afternoon sleeper and call it a power nap. That is outright laziness.
5. Eat well
Among the good health tips to practise on a daily is your diet. Having a balanced diet is very important. Your body will not lack anything. Similarly, with food it is the quality and not quantity that matters. You may eat so much but your body will only take up what it needs. That roast beef can be very tempting but your body will only take up the amount of protein needed. Just have the appropriate serving for you. What is not used up ends up being fat in your body.
6. Laugh more
As absurd as it sounds, this is the easiest good health tip you can utilise. We live in a world where everybody is focused on getting things done. People no longer savour the taste of good food. People can't smell well brewed coffee. It is sad. People's moods are at an all time low. To avoid this, just afford a good laugh each day. Find humour in the little things. If laughing is tedious, smile. You never know who you will smile at and they will have a great day just because of your smile.
7. Socialise
Perhaps you are wondering what this means? In the office setting, people don't necessarily socialise. Everyone is doing what brought them there and are quick to head home as soon as they are done. Not many people would say they are close to their colleagues. We don't know what challenges our colleagues may be facing at home. Similarly, people don't know if you have challenges.
It is a great daily health habit to socialise especially with your loved ones. Make time to be with your family. This is perfect to get away from the hustle of making a living. Through family and loved ones, you get to appreciate what life has to offer. You count your blessings and just soak in each moment.
Leading a healthy lifestyle is an option each of us can make. It can be challenging however, since not many people appreciate healthy living. Or maybe they do, they are just not willing to put in the work. Therefore, be the agent of change. You can exemplify what healthy living is like. If you don't practise any of the above daily healthy habits, there is hope. Just practise with one. Increase your water intake or just sleep a bit better. With time, you will reap the benefits.

Maintain Your Muscle Mass As You Age With These 5 Easy Tips

Sarcopenia, the muscular equivalent of osteoporosis, is age-related muscular deterioration. It starts when you turn 40, and causes a decline of roughly 1% per year. At 50, it picks up speed, so unless you started with a good amount of muscle mass, you could see a muscle loss of as much as 50% by the time you're 75 - really! There is good news though - you can stave off muscle weakening if you start right now - today.
1) Move it or lose it! Stretch and Exercise!
Don't just sit there - move it, bend it, lift it or work it. During TV commercials, do squats to strengthen your hamstrings and quads. Keep a set of low weight dumbbells or resistance bands by your office chair do a couple of arm reps every hour. If you totally don't know how to get started, hire a personal trainer (one who's experienced working with 'mature' adults!) for one hour to set up a lifting routine customized for you. "Without question, resistance exercise is the most powerful intervention to address muscle loss," says Nathan K. LeBrasseur, Ph.D., of the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the Mayo Clinic. Exercise increases strength, aerobic capacity and muscle protein synthesis and should be your first line of defense in slowing down sarcopenia.
2) Eat quality protein!
Protein repairs and rebuilds muscle fiber. Not sure how much protein you should consume in a day? Take your body weight in pounds, divide it in half and subtract 10. If you weigh 150 pounds, that would be 65 grams of protein per day, spread more or less evenly across your meals and snacks. (Note that if you have renal issues, check with your doctor first.) The type of protein you eat counts too. The best sources are grass-fed beef, whey protein, lentils, wild-caught fish like salmon and tuna and organic chicken.
3) Increase your consumption of omega-3's!
Put simply, omega-3 fatty acids influence muscle protein metabolism and mitochondrial physiology in human aging. A 2011 study's objective was to evaluate the effect of omega-3 fatty acid supplementation on the rate of muscle protein synthesis in older adults. The results showed that dietary omega-3 fatty acid supplementation increased the rate of muscle protein synthesis in older adults - so buy those omega-3-enriched eggs and add some flax seed and fish oils to your meals. Omega 3 Essential Oils
4) Eat a Mediterranean-style diet!
Decrease your consumption of inflammatory foods, like high fructose corn syrup, trans fats and processed foods, and increase your intake of leafy green vegetables, berries, mono-saturated fats like olive oil, walnuts and salmon. Cut out simple sugars and increase complex carbohydrates. In other words, eat foods as close to their natural state as possible. An easy way to accomplish this is to shop the outside aisles of your supermarket - that's where the good stuff lives!
5) Watch the booze and quit smoking!!
Alcohol can weaken your muscles if it's overly consumed. However, some of the healthiest people in the world consume red wine on a daily basis with no ill effect. Today the rule of thumb is to limit yourself to two alcoholic drinks per day if you're male, and one if you're female. As for smoking, you've heard all the reasons why you shouldn't, so just don't. We're surprised there are still people out there who continue to burn their money while inhaling it!
To sum up - do your stretching, resistance exercises and eat well - and your muscle deterioration should be minimal.

Start Running: 6-Week Training Plan to Build Up to 5K (3.1 Miles)

We all know that cardio activities, such as running, are great for your health. Getting into a running routine will improve your well-being on numerous levels, both physically and mentally. If you're new to running, or thinking about starting, knowing where and how to begin can be the most challenging aspects of getting up and going. The best thing to do is to set a goal and then put together a running plan.
A great starting goal for beginning runners is a 5K race, which is equal to 3.1 miles. Even if you don't currently run at all, it can take as little as 6 weeks to train for one of these races. Most cities have 5K races on a regular basis, and they typically support good causes. Or, simply make it your goal to run 3.1 miles in 6 weeks. So, set your sites on a goal, and then follow this easy, 6-week training plan.
Week 1
Workout
This first week you simply want to set your sites on getting off the couch and getting moving. Start simply by selecting four days to jog, or walk, 0.5 miles. If you choose to walk, do so at as fast a pace as you are comfortable with.
Strength-Building
You should also plan to do two days of light strength-building. Strength-building is extremely important when training for a race as it builds the muscles needed for continual running. You don't need to lift heavy weights and bulk up. The weight of your own body or, light, free weights, will be more than enough. You can do this in the comfort of your own home with free weights or a yoga mat, or, if you have access to a gym, use their machinery.
Diet
During this first week it's a good idea to also start adding healthy foods to your diet and this will give you energy as you run. Avoid greasy and heavy foods that can make you feel tired and drain your energy. Foods, such as nuts, fruits, and vegetables are great for high nutrition energy.
Week 2
Workout
Now that you've made it through your first week, up your mileage to 1 mile, three or four times this week. Try to run the whole way if you can, even if it is at a very slow pace. Make sure to stretch before, and after, so that you don't pull any muscles.
Strength-Building
Continue to strength-build twice this week. Yoga is a great strength building activity as it is a total body workout that many overlook. It's also a great workout for runners, because it stretches out the muscles that tend to get tight, as you build your running distance.
Diet
Continue to add healthy foods to your diet. You may also notice an increase in hunger as you work out more. Definitely eat when you are hungry, but keep in mind that running one mile only burns 100 calories, so snack wisely.
Week 3
Workout
Add another half mile to your run. You're up to 1.5 miles now!
Strength-Building
Continue to strength-build twice a week. You may want to add core exercises, like planking, or sit-ups. Make it a goal to plank for 30 seconds.
Diet
Continue to add healthy foods to your diet. Make sure to drink plenty of water before and after you workout.
Week 4
Workout
You've made it half way through the six weeks! Just three short weeks ago you couldn't run at all. Now you can boost your mileage to two miles, three times per week.
Strength-Building
Continue to strength-build twice a week. Try to plank for 45 seconds.
Diet
Consider making great tasting post-workout smoothies. All you need is frozen fruit, a liquid, like fruit juice, or milk, and your good to go. Also consider adding greens to your smoothie, like spinach, or kale - they are jam-packed with anti-oxidants.
Week 5
Workout
Almost there! Boost your mileage up to 2.5 miles this week. Now that you are going longer distances make sure to stretch very well before, and after, each workout.
Strength-Building
Continue to strength-build twice a week. Try to plank for 60 seconds. Squats are great for strengthening the running muscles in your legs.
Diet
As you run more, you may start becoming depleted of electrolytes. Try to replace them by drinking all-natural coconut water, which is high in potassium. Potassium is an essential electrolyte for runners.
Week 6
Workout
Now you're ready for the final leg of your training. You're up to 3 miles this week! Try to run 3 times this week, giving yourself a rest day and two strength-building days. The day before you run the 5K, it's a good idea to take a short run, say 1 mile, just to keep your muscles warmed up.
Strength-Building
You can continue to strength-build this week. Just make sure you don't over-do it. You don't want to be sore on the day of the race.
Diet
Continue to eat healthy foods. A day, or two, before the race, make sure that you don't eat anything too heavy, or out-of-the-ordinary. You don't want to have to deal with an upset stomach on race day.
Week 6+
Hopefully, after completing your 6 weeks of training, you feel great, both inside and out. Running can truly be transformative. Don't stop at 5K. From here you can continue your running routine by maintaining a 3 mile distance. Or, if you are feeling more ambitious, you can set your goals higher and begin to train for a 10K (6.2 miles) and, maybe even a Half Marathon (13.1 miles). Just continue to increase your mileage and pay attention to your runner's diet and you will reach your next goal in no time!
